Summer is zipping right along

Good morning Folks ~ It’s hard to believe we’re a week into August already. It’s been hot and very humid. There has been a let up in T-storm activity and I am glad of that.  There is still a chance of them each afternoon, as that is our ‘normal’ summer weather pattern.

I will be glad when Sept. 1 gets here as then I can get back to my somewhat normal routine of living my life. Going to visit Bella & Max three times a day, puts a crimp in my ‘laid back’ style. They are such good dogs though. I mowed over there this week and it took me two mornings to do it, as I just couldn’t do it all in one. The humidity was horrible and I just had to STOP. Even the dogs are ready to come back in after taking care of their outdoor business. Coming into the ac feels wonderful.

This is short and sweet. I did get 4 more items into my Etsy shop. I’m itching to do some more creating.

Here is a sweet rose that is a rooted cutting from the original, which croaked on me a year or so ago. I’m thankful this cutting made it and is blooming.

The rose is Penelope, a hybrid musk, with a delicious scent and a delicate color.

I love my roses. They touch my heart, they lift my spirit, they make me think of ‘love’.

"The Rose is gowned in petaled grace and lovely beyond telling;
She always lifts a friendly face, regardless of her dwelling.
Her golden silence can express to us, no matter where, joy shared;
Give solace in distress from those who fondly care.
The Rose has ways of saying things we much delight to hear;
without a spoken word, she brings and keeps our loved ones near."

What a lovely white rose! Glad your doggie sitting is going well, but I know it's hard to have the routine interrupted to that extend. We have been bugbear hot here too, and so so sticky. Slightly better today. Can't wait for the cool to come! Our dogs dash back inside many days too. It's not fit out there for man nor beast.

Your green thumb is showing in how you rooted that pretty white rose from an old rose of yours. September is on its way. I see you like Terry Hershey too; I subscribe to his weekly email letter, it is full of wonderful insights, links to videos, etc.

You need those ice coolers round your neck if mowing... Beautiful header photo, doggies for walk and some company, and the words about roses, they are to print and frame round a photo of one of your favourites, I can see you doing this with some added stitchery. Take care, keep cool. Hugs.

Your Penelope is a beautiful rose, from the tight bud to the fully opened flower. I know so little about roses that I didn't realize they bloomed all summer, and in the heat of SE Florida. My father would have known. He was much like the kind of gardener that you are.

Every once in a while the wind shifts and we get a preview of autumn. Can't wait! Dogs do take up a lot of time, but it's good that you were able to get the work. Beautiful rose! I think white ones are now my favorites. Take thing slow and stay cool!

Hugs

Beautiful photos Lorraine. I bet when you thought of "love" while looking at your roses, you were thinking of your DH. Looking forward to checking out your Etsy shop. Thank you for visiting me at Still Woods Farmhouse.

It is a gorgeous rose and the bud is so wonderful before it blooms.

I love your roses too . . . the one (but certainly not the only) plant I cannot grow. :-)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Rainey.

Lovely rose, the ones we root are always special, aren't they? I know you'll be happy to get your routine back, and have time for your needlework. Have a good weekend, and take care.

I have a Penelope rose, but it has never bloomed. Hopefully next year! The peach-colored buds are so pretty.

Love the things you added to your Etsy shop!

I regularly watch one of my friends dogs when she can't get home in the middle of the day, so I am aware of the style-cramping that does! I hear you on mowing the lawn in the humidity, I feel the same way! I mow almost 2 acres, I find I have to take 4 breaks when mowing! I've divided the lawn into sections and I take a break after I finish a section. LOL. It works for me! Have a great weekend Lorraine! :)

Sorry about your heat and humidity. Mornings here have been cool & pleasant. It's been a peculiar summer. Feels more autumn-ish. My mums have started to bloom which REALLY puts me into the autumn mode! (I know it's too early to escape some heat.....) Our roses have begun to re-bloom. Except for one red bush which didn't do anything this year, all are white, rambling ones.

Beautiful roses, Lorraine! Thank you for keeping in touch! I really appreciate your positive attitude to life and lovely quotes. THough things get hard sometimes you keep up your faith. We're trying to escape winter here. Getting ready for a 100 km cycle soon.

Lorraine ~ I could smell the fragrance of those roses right through my computer screen! Oh...so beautiful! I loved what you said about your love for roses; "They touch my heart, they lift my spirit, they make me think of love" Just beautiful.

It is good to visit with you. :)
Stay cool and enjoy the beauty of the remainder of the summer.
